Here are some photos of different constructions of the robot:

 

 

The first construction

 

 

 



 
It turned out that the motors layout was giving to small transmition to the wheels and also the central front wheel didn't do anything good.
 

 

So we changed the layout of both motors and removed the central wheel at the front of the robot, and then we added the sensor arm:

Then it was time to mount the eyes (photoresistors), the Atmel's microprocessor as the A/D converter and the LCD display and connect it all together

 

First test successfull - robot stopped when detected white edge of track:
 
 

 

We also tried to put ilumination under the photoresistors:

 

 

But this idea didn't improve robot's perception, although it was a nice visual effect, which you can see on this film (AVI 0.8 MB)

 

And then we made a final test of the prototype

 

 

You can also see a potentiometer attached to one of the eyes (photoresistors) to make the measurements from both eyes even. With this temporary potentiometer connection and a long cable which comes together with it there is some tangle of cables.
